Moving?   Here's a to-do checklist

Once the contract is signed, you will undoubtedly be busy getting ready for your move. Here is a checklist of items that you will want to review to ensure a smooth transition.

• Choose a lawyer/notary public to handle the legalities of the transaction and inform your realtor

• If your property taxes are automatically debited by City Hall, contact them to discontinue the automatic debit

• If moving to/from a strata, contact your strata management office to arrange elevator access move date/time and pay any move-in/move-out fees

• Arrange for mail redirection from Canada Post

• Contact the utility companies to disconnect or move services:

• Register your new address with ICBC and if applicable, the company that provides your optional coverage

• Arrange to start/discontinue home insurnace coverage as of the POSSESSION DATE

• Arrange for moving services (look for discounts on mid-month or weekday moves)
