Caring for Granite

Undoubtedly, the beauty and low maintenance of granite has made it highly popular in homes today.  To protect your investment, there are some simple guidelines to follow which will ensure the look of your counters and vanities endure for years to come.

Cleaning - For daily cleaning, make sure to use soft cloths and warm water.   Stone soap can be used on a weekly basis.   To keep the surface shine, minimize the use of soap as it tends to buildup and definitely avoid acidic or abrasive products as they can degrade the granite's sealant.

Attend to spills - Blot, don't wipe any liquid spills or acidic food.

Use trivets & potholders - while granite is highly heat-resistant, it isn’t heat-proof.

Sealing regularly - applying sealants slows the rate at which the granite absorbs liquid. When water no longer beads on the surface, it’s time to reseal.
